Football Feet

Simon & Schuster UK, 2003

“Who will win this whirling, twirling, rolling, bouncing football game? Two animal teams, Cheetahs and Rockets, battle it out in this football game in rhyme.” (UK Simon & Schuster website).

In 2003 UK Simon & Schuster also released a new hardback version of Soccer Beat, called Football Feet. In order to make the manuscript relevant to the game of football, the european equivalent of soccer, I was asked to tweak the text to include football terms.

Here is an example of the changes I made:

Soccer Beat

“Soccer players’ nimble feet

hustle at the soccer meet.

Kick it move it zig-zag slide —

dressed in cleats they spin and glide.”

Football Feet

“Football players, large and small

rush about to get the ball.

Kick it move it zig-zag slide–

In full kit they spin and glide.”

Fun, huh?

Football Feet continues to be available in paperback in the UK and Canada.
